Samuel's 4th bday preschool party
Jess Sam and friends
Samuel Jess Scott and Anjanette all had to have a bite of the cake!
The Radicals (Gap year church workers) dressed up as Pooh Tigger and Eyore they were such good sports and the kids loved it!
Samuel hit the pinata until the sweets and toys inside fell out, then it was a free for all mad grab !
New Tenses, new car, house guests and school party
What a week we have had! Anjanette has a new grammar teacher and has learnt 2 new tenses this week. We (or rather BMSWorldmisison)have purchased a vehicle on Wednesday, Scott has learnt lots about paper work and patience as well as crazy driving ! We have friends staying with us for a few days a German missionary family of 4, all of the children in the house have coughs and colds and no one is sleeping too well! On Thursday we celebrated Sam's 4th birthday at his preschool with 24 children , we broke tradition and asked all the children to shake his hand rather than hugging and kissing him which he really doesn't like. We suspect that one day he probably will like it!
One tradition we didn't expect was that not only did the birthday boy get the cake in the face but the birthday sister and the birthday parents too. Sadly the car got the cake in the face before us, on the way to the party we braked suddenly and the bright red spiderman cake was splatted on the dash board! We tried our best to repair it and couldn't believe it when the teachers told us that the cake shop we bought it from could have delivered it to the school! Never mind Sam had fun he really enjoyed bashing the pinata and we were touched to see how happy and settled he is celebrating with his new friends after such a short time.
So tomorrow brings the start of another (hopefully )less chaotic week, it begins with Scott preaching and celebrating Samuel's actual birthday with our friends from language school.

Libby's birthday
Yesterday we hosted a fancy dress party for our friend Libby's birthday to blow the homesickness bugs away. We had a lot of fun dressing up we hired crazy outfits for the cost of £3 each and anyone who arrived without a costume had their pick from Sam and Jess's dressing up box or Jessica got them with the face paints. Approxiamately 50 people squeezed in and with enormous fancy dress otfits it was quite a squeeze! We are so grateful to God for our friends from Peru England Norway Switzerland Italy Germany Australia USA and Brazil not to forget Ireland in honour of Libby's birthday we played Irish music!

Trip to Lima
Peruvian Bears at Lima Zoo
Jess at the Water Park
Sam at the water park
Scott and Jess in the water tunnel
We have just returned from our trip to Lima.Coming back to Arequipa really feels like coming home.
The reason for the trip was to secure the childrens' ID cards at immigration but we also had the chance to enjoy time with friends as well as see some of the tourist attractions such as the water park with impressive dancing fountains and light and laser show, also we had fun at the zoo in Lima seeing a lot of animals native to Peru . Lima is similar to many capital cities big busy dirty noisy pricey and progressive, we went shopping in Jockey Plaza a modern shopping mall which overlooks the race course, it reminded us of similar malls in the UK or USA. In jockey plaza we were able to buy essential items like a flashing spiderman T shirt for Samuel and a rugby ball!
Whilst there Scott went to a youth event for young people about 1000 young people from the Lima Baptist churches attended, the evening lasted 4 hours , it was exciting to witness what God is doing among young people there and we look forward to seeing what God will do among the young people in the Baptist church in Cusco in the future.
So complete with a box of 50 mini dunkin donuts we bought for our friends at language school we are happy to be home in sunny Arequipa very grateful to God that we are now all official peruvian residents.
