Goodbye Robyn

Sadly our volunteer Robyn flew back to the UK this week. We were all very sad to see her go she has been enthusiastic, highly talented, helpful and always cheerful . Her 5 months with us in Peru have flown by. She has made a fantastic contribution to the life of El Puente and the hospital visiting team and we are very sad to see her go! Please join us in praying for her as she will soon travel to France as part of her studies to experience yet another language and culture. Gracias Robyn you have been fantastico!

clowning around

This week our church held a Dr Clown workshop , the participants trained to be hospital clowns and then on the last day of the workshop the clowns visited the local hospital. Everyone involved had great fun and we are really excited to see our young people using their skills and talents to serve others and to spread a little happiness !

Peruvian Baptist Assembly

This week Pastor Scott is at the Peruvian Baptist Assembly which is being held in Ayacucho, he flew in a tiny 20 seater plane to get there! The assembly is an important time for the Pastors to join together for meetings, spiritual refreshment and time of fellowship together.  Here are some of his photos .

El Puente Day of prayer

40 people crammed into our home on Saturday for this month's day of prayer and fasting, followed by much feasting and celebrating when we broke our fast in the evening.
Good job Pastor Scott also has chef skills!

We believe that 2013 is a really significant year for us as a church.

Please join us in praying for the following 3 points.

For spiritual and numerical growth this year.
For the provision and purchase of a church building.
That God will raise up  a Peruvian pastor to work alongside Scott this year.

Rainy season

My last post mentioned the challenges of living in Cusco during rainy season. Well after 30 mins of rain our patio was flooded. Here is a photo of brave Pastor Scott unblocking the drain !

Family walk on new year's day 2013

The weather in Rainy season in Cusco is very changeable, basically if the sun is shining it is best to go out and enjoy it since moments later there could be heavy rain, hail and the roads often flood as the drains overflow. It rains almost daily sometimes all day, sometimes just for part of the day. The dry yellow hills have now turned a beautiful lush green , the downside is that many homes leak and some people fear that their houses will once again flood as in previous years. The rivers are rising and there have been some landslides in Cusco already. Rainy season will continue for another few months. Well since you need to "aprovechar" (to make the most of ) the sun while it shines we decided to go for a family walk on new year's day, exploring the hill and the woods behind our house, it was a steep breath taking walk up the hill at high altitude; but it was worth it since the view over the city was breath taking too!
