The only certain thing in Peru is that nothing is certain!!

This week on Wednesday we had a transport strike hence Ausungate school, language classes, Anjanette's after school club and Scott's Pastors meeting were cancelled!

Last week the carpenter who we thought had been spending the previous 3 weeks making furniture for the cafe church returned the money to us saying that he could not do the work!

Today the government announced that for the next 2 weeks all Peruvian schools are to be closed to try to contain the spread of swine flu. So the children have 4 weeks off school, the first 2 unplanned the second 2 we have planned holiday!

Other exciting things that happened this week were that Samuel learned to button up his pyjamas himself, he also got a bean stuck up his nose at school! Jessica has loved having Libby to stay and is doing good impressions of Libby's Irish accent, the police unsuccessfully tried to ban Scott from driving for 6 months, Anjanette enjoyed eating branston pickle for the first time in about a year.Libby helped Jess make visual aids for her school project los incendios forestales en Peru, now we have to practice her spanish exposicion !

Keep writing - this stuff is great and there is always something that brings out a smile - even if it is the thought of one of your children with a bean stuck up their nose - which depending on the type of bean, or the distance and the force with which is was stuck, may of course be a very serious matter indeed - and certainly not a laughing matter.
