Soap distribution

Our good friend Georgina Varney is visiting us, many thanks to her church, her family and also the schools where she works for money that they have sent with her to help our work here. Georgina distributed soap to all the families who live in Yucay in tents. We also took fish fruit and dried goods, they told us that they eat fish or meat once a week when we take it to them. What a blessing to be able to take toys for the children, a family from our church El Puente are leaving Peru to move to Vienna so they gave away all their old toys to Yucay the children were delighted!!

Please pray for Martine

Some of you will remember 6 year old Martine and her family from Denmark who arrived in Arequipa last year and was at language school with us. Sadly soon after they arrived in Peru she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and they returned to Denmark for treatment. Today we received an email to say that she has relapsed and that there is no more therapeutic treatment available for her medulloblastoma . All treatment has now been stopped and the objective of her care now is to keep her pain free. This poor family has suffered so terribly, they know she is going to a better place but would you please join us in upholding them in prayer at this time. Her parents Rolf and Miriam have a strong faith in God, please pray that they will know his comfort .

Carlotta's baptism

How wonderful to have our second baptismal service at El Puente Cafe Iglesia . Our small church plant is growing and people are becoming more committed to God and to the church fellowship which is really wonderful to see! Church life in Peru is certainly different for us Scott pumped up the paddling pool, filled it with cold and then added hot water, arranged the songs on the computer, set up the PA as well as preaching the sermon and then baptising Carlotta!

Men in the Kitchen cooking up a storm!

There is a wonderful community spirit in Yucay , recently when Scott visited he was surprised to discover that the men in the village decided to give the ladies a break and to take responsibility for cooking for 300 people that day. Many people donate dry goods but what they are really missing is fish and meat so we took out a huge box of fish which they were delighted with !

1st day of school

Well after almost 12 weeks off school for the long summer hols we are not sure who is more excited that school restarts today , Jess and Sam woke up and put on their new school uniforms at 0600 this morning! They both start and finish at the same time this year 0800-1400 so that gives us more time for work in the church and the clinic and a morning off (each Monday) and means we only have to do the school run twice instead of 3 times a day. We are grateful that they both enjoyed school so much last year, please pray that they will quickly settle with their new teachers this year. Sam's spanish teacher is Miss Miriam and his english (peruvian) teacher is Mr Tony, it will be great for him to have a male teacher. Jess's spanish teacher is called Miss Suzanne and her english ( from England!) teacher is also called Miss Suzanne!!
