Celebrating the end of the long school holidays!

Well perhaps the children or the teachers are not ready for school to restart but Scott and Anjanette are excited that after 10 weeks of schools hols Jess and Sam are restarting school this week!

Jess and Sam have played together and behaved fairly well (apart from playing bungee jumping and Jessica trying to bungee Samuel off the upstairs landing!) they have done some extra English reading and writing with Anjanette and we are delighted with how their English has progressed over the last few months. Samuel has been loving reading Horrid Henry, Yuck and The Clumsies, Jessica and Anjanette enjoyed reading Alice in Wonderland together. There has been much creativity and cooking, tentmaking, digging up worms and making mud pies in the garden but it has to be said we are looking forward to restarting our school routine. Running the church, working in the clinic and looking after the action team has been quite a challenge for the last 10 weeks with the children at home.
January and February 2013 PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME AND VISIT AND HELP US LOOK AFTER JESS AND SAM ! Apart from the bungee episode they are quite well behaved really!

And to prove what an angel he is , here is a prayer that Sam wrote out in spanish.
It translates "Help me Lord to speak to my friends about you, Amen."

Please pray for Jess and Sam on March 1st as they restart school, that they will settle well and enjoy being back at Ausangate and that indeed Samuel and Jess will have the courage to talk to their friends about God.

the work on the roof begins!

Praise the Lord we are starting to renovate the building in Huambutio which will be used for the clinic/cell church.

It is so exciting to see the work starting, currently the roof is being plastered, then all the walls will be plastered and the floor will be tiled before dividing the walls and installing the sink, furniture and medical equipment.

We have been planning this project for a long time and it is wonderful to see the dream becoming a reality!

Holiday club report

Thankyou for praying with us, the first week of our February holiday club has been great. We are excited that we have come into contact with some new families and have had some good conversations with the church's immediate neighbours.Every day new children have attended and some have returned which has been encouraging.

In the morning whilst we run the kids holiday club we have been serving tea coffee and cake for the parents, it has become an impromptu coffee shop and a number of our neighbours have come in to chat with us , one of whom then attended our church prayer meeting for the first time last night .

We have had a number of church members help out and it has been great to have so much activity going on in the church building. Whilst the action team and Cecilia have been running the club in the mornings Anjanette has been walking around the neighbourhood with Sylvia giving out fliers and inviting people, we were excited that one lady who lives near the church invited us into her home to pray with her.

In the evenings we are running a club for young people and are pleased to see some new faces joining the group, we pray that after this month when school and college restarts and we go back to the weekly youth meeting pattern that many more young people will get involved in the church's activities.

We are very blessed to have this opportunity to run a holiday club for a whole month, please continue to pray with us that many will be touched by God's presence this month through this venture.

February holiday club

This month the action team are running 2 holiday clubs. Every Monday Wednesday and Friday in February 0930-1130 El Puente will run a kids holiday club then 6-8pm one for young people.

Many schools and institutions run "vacaciones utiles" in January and February and children are signed up for 2 months of daily sports, music, language classes in locations all over Peru. Many of the activities are exhausting and expensive. Our holiday club is free and we pray that many children and young people in the community will attend and have a marvellous time.

Please join us in praying for this big event and especially for the action team who have worked really hard preparing the activities. We long to make more contacts with families in the local area and we pray that this will help us to do so.
